Obituary for Ernest Lee Maggard Jr.

Ernest Lee Maggard Jr, "Big Ernie", 61, Cedar Hill, TX, from Dallas, TX, passed away on November 2, 2022. Ernie courageously fought for life the past few years after an unfortunate motorcycle accident that declined his health. Throughout his fight he remained humble and strong. Ernie was a well-loved man, especially by his kids, grandchildren, and family who will miss him dearly. Anyone who had the honor to meet him say the same thing about him; he was a hardworking, strong-willed, funny man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him.

He leaves behind his daughter, Brandi Maggard, her two children, Michael Richardson and Major Washington; his son, Ernest Maggard III and wife Robbie Maggard, their daughter Saydee Maggard; stepdaughter Ashely Cornelison, her two children, Andrew and Ashton Bernal; stepson, Eric Cornelison; nephew who looked to him as a father figure, Mundy Hill, wife Elvira Zubiri, and children who saw him as "Papa", Shannon, Hailey, Mundy Jr, and Cash; He is survived by two older sisters, Janie Maggard and Margaret "Margie" Maggard of Dallas, TX. Several other family members and numerous friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lee Maggard and Opal Doris Barrett; and wife (separated), Jennie "Susie" Cornelison Maggard.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and a prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm. The following day, Thursday, November 17, 2022, we will reunite at the funeral home chapel for a service at 2:00 pm officiated by Alfred Garcia and procession to follow to Jeter and Son Crematory on Illinois Ave.
